Le Parc****, more than half a century of history
1954, on a Penticost Sunday, Le Parc****, Obernai opened its doors…
At the heart of a delightful family hotel in Obernai with just 13 rooms, Marie Kuntz, affectionately known as "Grandma", cooked while her daughter Helene welcomed and served the guests. The pride of the family, Le Parc**** quickly became popular thanks to the quality of Marie Kuntz's dishes and the humble property, which was quickly proving too small.
1958, the restaurant is extended
The Spindler room became part of Le Parc****, in homage to the famous Alsace marquetry artist, along with a second pavilion accommodating 13 additional rooms.
1968, Marc Wuncher joins Le Parc****
A graduate from the École Hôtelière de Strasbourg, Marc Wucher, Helen's son, marked his arrival by undertaking serious work: the two pavilions were united tocreate just one. 8 completely renovated rooms where then added to the hotel as well as a restaurant called "Bliekask" at the time, and a kitchen
measuring 120m².
In the 1980s, the hotel/restaurant entered the era of leisure
Determined to evolve with the times, Le Parc**** was then fitted with a bar,
lounge and reading room, bowling alley and games room.
Outside, an outdoor swimming pool and the Water Club pool bar finished off
a series of high-end facilities.
Then in 1990, the first version of the Spa appeared: a pool
with waterfalls and whirlpool, sauna, steam rooms, hot tubs and solarium.
The 1990s, Le Parc**** celebrated its 4 star status
After receiving its fourth star in 1996, Marc Wucher made his dream come true by creating
La Stub a year later. A real homage to his mother, this typical Alsatian
restaurant brings together tradition and innovation, offering regional "Grandma" style
cuisine.
The 2000s, and the hotel expands again...
A VIP lounge was opened: a boardroom with a capacity of 12 people. Un Business
Centre to meet the needs of businesspersons and the new garden being refreshed with a waterfall.
The latest feature of the house: the Havana Club, a cosy smoking lounge
popular among connoisseurs of cigars and old rums, boasted a collection to make even the grandest of
palaces jealous.
2005, Le Parc****, Obernai, became a Hotel, Restaurant & Spa...
This year marked the creation of the Spa. Simply walk through the four splendid
doors coming straight from Rajasthan for the most exotic of journeys:
Steam rooms, whirlpools with essential oils, Finnish sauna, fitness studio, massage rooms decorated in the colours of India, Japan and Morocco.
The end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009.
Le Parc**** Hotel, Restaurants & Spa achieves the "Authentic hotels" seal of approval in February, after four weeks of work dedicated to twenty rooms, a new spa area now brought up to date, and the creation of a Business Lounge.
